What is the most cost effective color printer (re: cost of cartridges) for a small business?

Question by sharbysyd: What is the most cost effective color printer (re: cost of cartridges) for a small business?
A while ago I purchased an inkjet printer for $ 99.00. I thought it was cheap but it goes through cartridges (which cost $ 25 or more each) like crazy, so I think it really wasn’t a very good deal. My brother mentioned something to me about purchasing a business printer which would be more cost effective regarding ink. I’d like to purchase another printer which would be more cost effective regarding the ink. I’d like it to be an all-in-one (fax, copier, scanner). I’d like to be able to print in color. Any help on this topic is appreciated.

I think Color laser is the way to go for business. You don’t want to buy a pair of ink cartridges that could probably cost you more than the printer.

I am looking at Dell 3110cn printer myself. It’s not a big printer brand name like HP and Canon but it’s actually made by Fuji Xerox. I think it’s the best printer so far I have seen. The paper pass is very simple, just one straight line (the less turn the better for laser printers). Consumables in this printer is just the toner cartridges. You will have some add-on options like duplex unit or wireless nic. The price is $ 424 on their website and the cost per page is like 1 cent per page.

This is the color laser I have been waiting for, Low price with good design. The only problem I have with this machine is it’s really too big for personal use. I am just a regular home user. I don’t have the kind of space for a big printer like that. Otherwise, I would buy it in a heart beat.

Suggestions for a Tabloid Color Laser Printer?

I actually have several suggestions.
1st – Check out off-lease xerox printers such as the techtronic/phaser machines – many of them have 11×17 capabilities and by getting it off-lease you will pay less for a later model product. Generally these off-lease printers have been refurbished. The cost of the print cartridges may be a bit high – but you will get the quality that you want.

2nd – OkiData makes a high quality new printer that can print 11×17 – but the new ones start at about $ 4,000. You may be able to find a late model off-lease printer.

3rd – Having been in the quick print industry for over 16 years – I have worked with hundreds of artist that need high quality for low cost. Take advantage of your local (not Kinko’s – loved em but they go after the big buck clients) OfficeMax, OfficeDepot or Staples – and if you go to Depot or Max mention that Staples has a sale price of .39 per 8.5 x 11 and will they match that – it is their policy to match a competitors price. This is a good solution if you are looking to make proofs or examples to show the client. Additionally all of the above mentioned companies have the ability to receive your files via e-mail. Give them some time to produce it (like at least 4 hours to work it in to their production schedule – or ask what their turn time is) trust me if you build a good relaitonship with them they will take care of you.
Good luck!

Q&A: Can you suggest a color printer for home use?

Question by JP: Can you suggest a color printer for home use?
I have a P4 PC with broadband internet connection at home. I am planning to buy a color printer, most probably an all in one, which can print, scan and copy. I hope my printing job will consist of documents, graphics and some photos and may be some good pcitures downloaded from the net. I would like to get advice on printers requiring less maintenance cost on ink catridges.I understand lots of new all in one pritners have been marketed recently. Thanks.

I like the HP all in ones because they usually only take two cartridges and I have one as well as two other hp printers and one espon.

I like the HP better.

P.S. it really does not matter about the computer unless you have a MAC and just about all of the HPs are compatible with MAC

How do you print black ink with color ink cartridges?

Question by Brian: How do you print black ink with color ink cartridges?
Ok, so currently I have a HP Photosmart D110 Series and am extremely low on black ink to the point nothing in black text prints. I remember a few months back when I had low black ink it gave me the option of using my colored cartridges to create composite black.

How can I make it so that the colored cartridges combine to form composite black again?

Best answer:

Answer by Richard J
With most printers you are required to have ink in both the black and color ink cartridges in order to print in black as they work in conjunction with each other. So you will need to have the both color and black ink cartridges with ink

Skipping out on Color toner for an office copy machine?

Question by snoopz_87: Skipping out on Color toner for an office copy machine?
In our office we have a heavy duty color copier, printer, scanner. With tax season around the corner, our concern right now is supplies. We want to know if even though we will only be using black toner, do the color toners also get used, and will those be running out as well? Our copy machine model is Imagistics CM2020.

Set the printer to only print in greyscale and it will only use the black ink

Is there a color copier out there that uses liquid ink instead of powder?

Question by : Is there a color copier out there that uses liquid ink instead of powder?
I find that the powder is very messy and hard to maintain. I’m also looking for a color copier and RIP device that outputs the best quality and takes more than 100lb paper. I know it’s a lot of info but I need ideas. Thanks people!

Printers based on lasers and photosensitive drums use “toner” (powder). Printers based on ink-jet technology use ink.

You can find all-in-one printer/fax/scanners that use an ink-jet to print. HP makes these as well as other vendors.

If you’re just looking for high quality color printers, I would look at “photo” quality printers.
