Picking Which Copy Machines Work Best

You can find that there are several kinds of copy machines you can purchase today. Each one has a unique feature you can’t find in other machines. Some copiers could have very basic features, while others could collate and even staple. Heed some of these tips to know what to look for before purchasing one.

With regard to color, black and white copiers tend to be cost-efficient, but they are very limited. Consider what you’d like to accomplish using your copier like if you would require print diagrams or illustrations that are colored. If that’s the case, you should not be investing in a high-end black and white copy machine.  A color copy machine needs 4 color cartridges in order to work and those are magenta, yellow, cyan, and black.

Regarding speed, be aware of the output speed of the copier before purchasing it. If efficiency and speed are of the essence in your workplace, then you should be opting for a copier that has high output speed. Copiers used commercially usually come up with about 60 copies in a minute, but high-end and heavy-duty ones could create more than 100 in every minute. Home copy machines, on the other hand, produce less than 30 copies in a minute.

Take into consideration the features and function that come with a copier since you would want to ensure that it will meet your present and future needs. Some copiers could collate, stack, sort and staple, while other copy machines couldn’t.

You should know the capacity of your copier when it comes to paper size. Each copier is able to hold handle letter-sized and legal sized paper, but there are those that could hold papers of larger sizes such as A3 paper. Copiers that have larger-scale paper capacities would be useful in workplaces that need to review proofs, pictures, or speedily make flyers and posters, like those in the marketing and communication departments.

Take all of these into consideration since every copy machine is an investment and you wouldn’t want to spend a fortune on something that would not be able to deliver to your needs.

All-in-one Copiers

Multifunction printers or what is also known as the all-in-one copier have been creating a buzz over the last few years. Why are people all raves about it? Given that they have printer, copier and scanner all rolled into one, they offer functionality and compactness at its best. These are very helpful in small businesses or home-based offices that cannot afford to buy separate printers, copiers and scanners for daily use.

In terms of all-in-one copier for home offices, you must look for different aspects. The first one would be the price. However, it isn’t the only one you should consider. Here are some 5 examples of multifunctional printers.

  1. Brother MFC- 7820N Printer. This one’s loved by many. One of its great features is that it can be installed easily. However, what makes it stand out are compactness, high speed and affordability. It has sharp and crisp laser quality printing, has a scanning resolution of around 1200×1200 dpi. It has good quality fax, too.
  2. Canon Pixma MP600. This one is known for its high quality print output, with sharp and crisp text and photos. With a mono speed of 30 ppm and color of 24 ppm and a color resolution of 9600×2400 dpi, it yields high quality color prints. Nevertheless, it has no film scanner or even an automatic document feeder.

3. HP Officejet 9120 multifunction printer. This all-in-one copier is ideal for an office workgroup or even for a home based business. It possesses an Ethernet print server and great multitasking ability with scanning, copying and fax abilities inbuilt. It boasts of a good mono speed of 25 ppm and color of 22 ppm, and two sided copying, this printer will suffice for home office use.

4. Samsung SCX 4200. A laser multifunction printer that has a 600×600 dpi resolution, a mono speed of 18 ppm. Considering it’s a laser printer, the ink cartridges is no match. It gives great quality prints and a fair speed. Overall, the Samsung SCX 4200 multifunction printer is affordable, making it good for home office use.

5. Epson AcuLaser CX11NF. A color laser multifunction printer, which is not ideal for printing color photos. Nevertheless, it’s best for text and graphics in general. The Epson AcuLaser CX11NF multifunction printer possesses an average speed of 18 ppm for text and 4 ppm for graphics. This is considered a bit slow. The tray input capacity is just 180 pages.

Do XEROX machines use PM DC motors?

Question by magical me: Do XEROX machines use PM DC motors?
I need a high voltage low rpm pmdc motor.. are they used in xerox machine (coz i happened to read this somewhere on the net)?? If not, where else are they used?

Answer by billrussell42
I doubt it, but there are many thousands of different models made by Xerox Corp. and I doubt even an engineer working at Xerox knows what kind of motors were used in each and every one of those tens of thousands.

There are lots of PM DC motors around, but mostly they are low voltage models. There is no reason to design a high voltage unit unless very high power is required, and high power motors are not PM DC motors.

(I interpret “high voltage” as over 500 volts)

Suggestions for a Tabloid Color Laser Printer?

Question by krista_guerrero: Suggestions for a Tabloid Color Laser Printer?

I actually have several suggestions.
1st – Check out off-lease xerox printers such as the techtronic/phaser machines – many of them have 11×17 capabilities and by getting it off-lease you will pay less for a later model product. Generally these off-lease printers have been refurbished. The cost of the print cartridges may be a bit high – but you will get the quality that you want.

2nd – OkiData makes a high quality new printer that can print 11×17 – but the new ones start at about $ 4,000. You may be able to find a late model off-lease printer.

3rd – Having been in the quick print industry for over 16 years – I have worked with hundreds of artist that need high quality for low cost. Take advantage of your local (not Kinko’s – loved em but they go after the big buck clients) OfficeMax, OfficeDepot or Staples – and if you go to Depot or Max mention that Staples has a sale price of .39 per 8.5 x 11 and will they match that – it is their policy to match a competitors price. This is a good solution if you are looking to make proofs or examples to show the client. Additionally all of the above mentioned companies have the ability to receive your files via e-mail. Give them some time to produce it (like at least 4 hours to work it in to their production schedule – or ask what their turn time is) trust me if you build a good relaitonship with them they will take care of you.
Good luck!
