How to Scan Documents on the Ricoh Copy Machine

How to Scan Documents on the Ricoh Copy Machine

The scanners that we have today often make use of a charge-coupled device (CCD) or a Contact Image Sensor (CIS) as the image sensor, while older drum scanners utilize a photomultiplier tube as the image sensor. A rotary scanner, used for high-speed document scanning, is another type of drum scanner, and this uses a CCD array rather than a photomultiplier.

What I mean is how do I literally scan the picture? Do I use a copy machine? Just a take a picture of it with a digital camera? I want a professional photo of it so that I can post it on my website.

A scanner is a device that optically scans images, printed text, handwriting, or an object, and converts it to a digital image. Common examples found in offices are variations of the desktop (or flatbed) scanner where the document is placed on a glass window for scanning.

You can purchase a scanner anywhere like best buy, walmart electronics…frys etc. You can also take a picture of it and upload it but the quality wouldn’t be as good.

Here is an image example of a scanner: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e3/Scanner.view.750pix.jpg/220px-Scanner.view.750pix.jpg

Copy vs. Scan – Why does a copier have better quality than a scanner?

Question by HeyNowBrownCow: Copy vs. Scan – Why does a copier have better quality than a scanner?
I have noticed that on digitial copiers (either black/white or color) they can turn out good results when making a copy, but if you then take that same machine and scan your document in (such as in 300 dpi) the results are much degraded.

Does a digital copier use a different scanning technology for copies than when scanning to PC?

Answer by Marco – Yahoo
yes different methods –

A fax / scanner converts what it scans into a picture i.e pixels and as a result the quality is reduced drastically.

A digital machine is able to create “pictures” but uses vector images, which are sharper and have better quality.
